Pats 1 - Rockets 5
The opening frame was a tough one for the Pats as the Rockets brought the heat early. J.T. Barnett opened the scoring seven minutes into the contest with his first WHL goal. With the Pats looking to get things square before the first intermission, the Rockets would add to their lead with goals one minute apart. First, Cole Martin had his point shot deflect into the net of the crowd in front. Barnett struck again for his second of the period when he grabbed the puck at the side of the Pats net and backhanded it into the cage to give Kelowna a 3-0 lead after one.
The second period scoring belonged to Regina as the two hottest Pats would connect. Lane Scheidl snapped home a Morgan Klimchuk rebound to give the Pats some life. The goal was Scheidl’s fifth in three games and sixteenth of the season. Meanwhile, Klimchuk extended his point streak to nine games. The Blue and White had their chances to shrink the lead, but Kelowna goaltender Jordon Cooke came up with a good save on Adam Brooks in tight and then robbed Klimchuk on a rebound chance in the slot. The Rockets outshot the Pats 10-8 in the period, but Matt Hewitt held fast to send the game to the third 3-1 in favour of Kelowna.
The Rockets came out in the third and shut down any hope of a Pats comeback with two goals in the first five minutes of the period. Ryan Olsen opened things up with a powerplay goal that he knocked down in front and chipped over the goal-line. Madison Bowey would put the game completely out of reach when he slipped into the slot as the trailer and snapped a one-timer behind Hewitt to push the lead to 5-1 Rockets and that would be the final.
