Pats look to put together a pair of road wins


Head-to-Head
Like the Pats, the Ice opened the Regular Season on a down note, dropping games to the Oil Kings and Hitmen.  With both games taking place on the road, the Ice will be geared up for their Home Opener tonight.  The Pats roll in with momentum after acquiring their first two points on the road in Swift Current.  The Pats featured a 2-1-1-0 record against Kootenay last season.

Lead Up: Pats Get First Win
Wednesday’s game in Swift Current certainly didn’t start out looking like an eventual win.  The Pats found themselves down 3-0 to the Broncos and outshot 23-7 after one period of play.  Regina turned the tables in the second and third, evening the score late in the final frame.  Morgan Klimchuk came up with the overtime winner to give the Pats their first victory of the 2012-13 season.

Return Tour
After making his return to Swift Current last night, Adam Rossignol visits his other previous haunt in Kootenay.  In his last trip to Cranbrook, Rossignol came up with a game winner for the Broncos.

Big Time Performer
Morgan Klimchuk was key to the Pats victory on Wednesday.  The top prospect scored twice in the win to bring his early season goal total to three.

Cashing In on the PP
The Pats have five powerplay goals on the young season, four of the come from two players in Klimchuk and Dyson Stevenson who each have two.  Defenceman Cole Hamblin has the other.

Last Line of Defence
Matt Hewitt was stellar in Wednesday’s game making 20 saves in the first period alone.  He finished the game with 38 stops including two gems in the third period to keep the Pats within one and then even, late in the game.

Quick Hits
- Defenceman Colby Williams got into his first game of the season Wednesday, the youngster was the catalyst behind the Pats winning goal, even though he wasn’t credited with an assist on the play
- The Pats have yet to outshoot an opponent in the 2012-13 Season, including four exhibition games
- With his four points this season, Dyson Stevenson past the 50 point mark for his career. He now sits at 53.
