Stevenson and Stephenson come up big in Pats victory
Pats 4 - Silvertips 3
Game Recap
First Period
The Pats rolled out one of their best starts of the season when Morgan Klimchuk pounced on a puck in the slot and put the Pats ahead only 44 seconds into the contest. The Silvertips would respond, though, with a pair of markers of their own. With Luke Fenske in the penalty box, Reid Petryk got free on the right wing and snapped a shot just under the bar to beat Teagan Sacher. The Tips second marker came off a strong effort from Trent Lofthouse who took advantage of the Pats bobbling the puck and tucked it in around a sprawling Sacher. The Pats had a couple of glorious opportunities late in the frame, but goaltender Daniel Cotton held the door shut.
Second Period
The Blue and White had a great opportunity to even the game in the second after Lucas Grayson was called for a five minute major for his high hit on Dryden Hunt who left the game. The Pats were unable to cash in on the opportunity, and paid for it as Trent Lofthouse put in a strong effort in front of the Pats net to tally and give Everett a two goal cushion. The Pats would get back in the game when Luke Fenske banged in a rebound to get the Blue and White back within one before the break.
Third Period
The third frame featured a Pats team playing with urgency and they were eventually rewarded late in the game. The Pats broke through their powerplay struggles when Lane Scheidl used a great toe-drag move into the open ice and found Chandler Stephenson to the side of the net to get Regina even at three goals a side. Just over a minute later, Dyson Stevenson went to work in the corner, spun out into faceoff circle and found himself in all alone. Stevenson used a backhand move to open up the five-hole and slid the go-ahead goal by Cotton. The Pats weathered a late surge from Everett to hold on for the 4-3 win and climb back to the .500 mark on the season. It was a big night for Sacher who picked up his first WHL win.
