Pats Face Royals in Second Game of Road Trip

November 17, 2012

A big two points on the line as the Pats complete the first leg of their swing

Head-to-Head
The Pats catch the ferry to visit the Royals for the first time since the team relocated to Victoria.  Regina’s last meeting with the Royals resulted in the Pats taking a 7-3 win on home ice.  Luke Fenske leads returning Pats against Victoria as he tallied four points in five games against the Royals last season.  The Pats come in after a hard fought shootout loss against Vancouver while the Royals rolled by Everett with a 4-0 victory.  Tonight’s game can be heard on 620 CKRM starting with the Press Box Sports Bar Pre-Game Show at 6:35 p.m.

Lead Up: Pats Lose to Giants in Shootout
The Pats came back from two goal and one goal deficits in their contest with the Giants, but couldn’t come back one final time in the shootout as Thomas Foster’s tally in the seventh round held up as the winner.  Morgan Klimchuk scored with less than a minute left in the contest to send the game to extra time and Lane Scheidl had three points in the loss.

November Road Swing
The Pats take to the road for five straight games through the B.C. Division.  The annual swing while the Canadian Western Agribition takes over the Brandt Centre started in Vancouver before heading to Victoria for tonight’s game followed by Prince George, Kamloops and Kelowna.  With a 4-3 shootout loss last night, the Pats sit 0-0-0-1 on the trip.

Former Teams
Luke Fenske and Lane Scheidl went head to head against their former team in the Giants last night.  Scheidl came up with a big three point night while Fenske logged big minutes for Regina.  The Pats have a former Royal on their roster in Kade Pilton.  The big defenceman/forward played 43 games as a member of the Royals last season in which he tallied five goals and eight assists.

Dynamic Duo
Morgan Klimchuk and Lane Scheidl have been bearing the offensive load for the Pats of late with both of them rolling on five game point streaks.  Klimchuk has four goals and five assists over that span while Scheidl has three goals and seven assists.
