The Week That Was
Friday, September 14th – Blades 2 Pats 1
The Pats entered the final weekend of the WHL Pre-Season with an even 1-1-0-0 record. The Blue and White had some good chances, but couldn't manage more than a lone marker and fell to the Blades 2-1 in the Pats first game at the Brandt Centre this year. Chandler Stephenson scored his first of the Pre-Season as the Pats only goal.
Saturday, September 15th – Pats 4 Blades 3
For the fourth time in the Pre-Season, the Pats found themselves outshot. The exhibition finale was the most lopsided margin yet as the Blades peppered Matt Hewitt with 41 shots on the evening. The Pats only mustered four shots in the third, but scored on three of them working out a 4-3 win in Saskatoon. Morgan Klimchuk scored twice for the Pats including an empty netter which turned out to be the game winner.
Shaking Up the Defence
The Pats were busy in the trade market acquiring two defenceman. First, it was 6'5" rear guard Kade Pilton joining the Pats from the Victoria Royals. Then it was AJHL South Division All-Rookie team member Tye Hand. Both add size to the Pats blue line and in Pilton's case, a year of Major Junior experience.
Additional Roster Moves
Pats Release defenceman Keaton Lubin
Pats reassign forward Connor Gay to Kindersley (SJHL)
Pats reassign defenceman Sean Whelan to Estevan (SJHL)
Quotes of the Week
"You can always do more, but as far as an audition for a hockey team, that was a pretty fine one." - Head Coach Pat Conacher on goalie Teagan Sacher's Pre-Season
"It's basically depression right now, I can't recover from this. It’s devastating to be honest. You know I’m not really going to buy it now I don't want to have to live up to that. Hopefully next year I’ll be a little bit better" - Kyle Burroughs (jokingly) on his 45/100 rating in EA Sports’ NHL 13.
