Head to Head
This is the third time this season that the Pats and Ice have met. The last time they met was on January 18th at the Brandt Centre, where the Pats held leads of 1-0 and 2-1 at different points of the game, but the Ice were able come back each time and escape the Brandt Centre with a 3-2 overtime win. All three of the Ice goals came on the power play led by Sam Reinhart with 2 goals including the winner. Morgan Klimchuk scored both of the Regina Pats goals in the loss.
The first meeting was way back on September 30th in Cranbrook and the Ice cruised to a 5-2 victory. Max Reinhart had two goals and two assists in the win.

Just the Facts
Out shot…no problem:
The Regina Pats have been outshot 33 times this season, but that hasn’t affected them in any way. In games that they have been out shot, the Pats record is 19-10-3-1, which is a better winning percentage than when they are outshooting their opponents (11-12-2-0).
Five on the Radar:
Three current Pats and two from their 50-man list are on the NHL Central Scouting Mid Term rankings:
18. Brady Skjei (shay) – Listed – currently with the USDT U-18 Program
36. Chandler Stephenson – 1st Rnd, 2009 WHL Draft – 4th on the Pats in scoring
95. Dominik Volek – 1st Rnd, 2011 CHL Import Draft – 7th on the Pats in scoring
192. Rhett Holland – Listed – currently with Okotoks (AJHL)
208. Jack Rodewald – 8th Rnd, 2009 WHL Draft – Two goals and a +4 in January
Weal Lethal in the Shootout:
The Pats have a pair of shootout victories already this season, and a big part of those wins has been the stick of Jordan Weal. He is 3/3 so far this season and in 2010-11 Weal went 8/11 for a combined 78.6%. For his career, Weal is a combined 17/27 for a scoring percentage of 63.0%.
Two with blankings:
Both Matt Hewitt (4) and Adam Beukeboom (1) have shut outs this season, this is the first time since 2007-08 that the Pats have had more than one goaltender with shutouts as Linden Rowat had three and Jeff Bosch one. Hewitt’s four shutouts is the most for a Pats goaltender since Rowat’s four in 2006-07.
Quick Hits:
- Matt Hewitt’s assist on November 19th in Spokane was the first assist by a goaltender since Linden Rowat picked up one on a Jesse Dudas power play goal on January 28th, 2009 in Lethbridge.
- Dryden Hunt turned 16 on November 24th; he is the youngest player in the WHL by three days. Prince George’s Jake Mykitiuk was born on November 21st.
- Only Brandon Davidson has played in all 59 games this season.
- Eight players (Scheidl, Stephenson, Jobke, Ouellette, Stevenson, Rieder, Martell, and Underwood) have all hit single season career highs in points already this season.
