
DELAHEY DRAFTED BY DEVILS
Ottawa, Ontario – Regina Pats defenseman Matt Delahey has been selected by the New Jersey Devils in the 4th round, 112th overall in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft.
Delahey, a native of Moose Jaw, SK, recently completed his 2nd full season with the Pats this past year. In 68 games, Delahey picked up 3 goals and 16 assists for 19 points to go along with 68 penalty minutes and a plus/minus rating of +7.
Delahey joins teammate Colten Teubert as the second Pats defencemen taken in this year’s draft and the fifth Pats defenseman to be drafted in the NHL Entry Draft in the past four years. In 2005, Derek Reinhart was selected by the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 6th round, 177th overall, in 2006 blueliner Logan Pyett was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in the 7th round, 212th overall and then last year Nick Ross was drafted in the 1st round, 30th overall by the Phoenix Coyotes.
